Hay Fever: (Allergic Rhinitis)

Pollen, dust, mold allergies, bad sinuses? Sensitive skin? Maybe you’ve been dealing allergies that are more severe than you thought. Get tested and know for sure.

Asthma

Symptoms may include wheezing, shortness of breath, repeated coughing, chest pressure, difficulty with exertion. Usually reversible with medications like albuterol.

Hives: (Urticaria)

Raised, sometimes red and very itchy rash that can appear anywhere on the skin. They can last a few hours or as long as 48 hours, with new hives popping up frequently. One in five people will develop hives in their lifetime. Appearance may vary based on skin color.

Generalized Itching: (Pruritus)

May occur all over the body or in various regions of the body. May be due to internal cytokines, dry skin, allergies or other skin conditions. An allergist can help you find if an underlying allergy is the cause of your symptoms.

Swelling: (Angioedema)

“Water in your tissues.” May happen anywhere on your body. Most frequently involves the face, especially the eyes and lips. May be associated with hives.

Anaphylaxis

A serious life-threatening allergic reaction. Characterized by rapid onset airway, breathing or circulatory problems, that may or may not be associated with skin and mucosal changes.

Eczema: (Atopic Dermatitis)

An inflammatory skin condition that causes patches of itchy dry skin that appears in various forms. May or may not be associated with other allergic conditions.

Pet Allergies:

Runny nose, sneezing, itchy and watery eyes around animals. May even effect breathing if severe. Can be treated with allergen immunotherapy.

Eye Allergies: (Allergic Conjunctivitis)

Symptoms of itchy and sometimes red eyes, when exposed to an aeroallergen. May also be associated with eyelid swelling, watery eyes and irritation.

Medication Allergies

Symptoms may include rash, mucosal changes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, and possibly anaphylaxis. May be an immediate or delayed reaction, depending on the mechanism of the allergy. All medication allergies should be takes seriously as it can lead to death.

Food Allergies

Symptoms may include rash, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, and possibly anaphylaxis that happens quickly, usually within an hour after consuming a food or drink. Can happen at any age.

Food Sensitivities and Intolerances

May cause similar symptoms as food allergy but usually without anaphylaxis. May have no symptoms, varying symptoms like abdominal cramping, bloating, and constipation/diarrhea, or vague symptoms. Likely develops a few hours after eating, making it difficult to find the culprit. May also be dependent on the quantity consumed.

Insect Sting Allergies

Symptoms may include rash, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, fainting and possibly death after an insect sting or bite. If found to have a true insect sting or bite allergy, immunotherapy under the supervision of an allergist is highly recommended and can be life saving.

Latex Allergy

Latex comes from the sap of the rubber tree. Many products are made with latex, including exam gloves, balloons and condoms. Symptoms may include a rash, irritation, redness, hives and swelling in areas where the latex may have come into contact with the skin.

Contact Dermatitis and Skin Rashes

Contact Dermatitis is caused by an external substance coming into contact with skin, that may cause an immediate or delayed skin reaction. Commonly caused by metals, preservatives in skin care products, medicated ointments, cosmetics, fragrances and dyes.

The term rash is an all-encompassing word that can be used to describe any non-traumatic lesion on the skin.

Sinus Problems

Symptoms may include nasal congestion, sinus pressure, headache, eye pain, teeth pain, difficulty breathing through the nose and smelling. May be due to allergies, structural abnormalities, hormonal changes, environmental changes, and other causes.

Nasal Polyps

Pendulous fibrous growths that are soft and painless found on the lining of your nasal passages or sinuses. They result from chronic inflammation due to various causes.

Eosinophilic Disorders

Eosinophils are a type of white blood cell mainly used to fight parasitic infections. They have a role in allergic disease and asthma. Eosinophils release their granules which are sticky and acidic. When eosinophils are unregulated or find their way into certain tissues, it can cause tissue damage and thus disease.

Immunologic Problems

(e.g., immune deficiencies, recurrent infections)
Caused by a disorder in immune function. May be genetic or acquired. Most characterized by frequent spontaneous infections not due to another cause. Sometimes it requires a series of test and visits before a diagnosis can be made.

Mast Cell Disorder

A spectrum of disorders due to dysregulation of the mast cell. Symptoms vary in presentation and severity. Symptoms may include Skin: flushing, itching, rashes; Gastrointestinal: Abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting; Neurological: Brain fog, cognitive problems, tremors, headaches; Cardiac: blood pressure changes with hypertension/hypotension, palpitations, fainting; Respiratory: nasal congestion, wheezing; and Anaphylaxis (life-threatening allergic reaction).
